Climate Counts: An Awesome Way To See How Green Companies Actually Are
Last year I stumbled upon an organization called Climate Counts that rates companies on how green they actually are. Climate Counts looks at the entire production-consumption process of a company to see how energy intensive it is. Want to find out whether your shoes, technology products, or even the organic food you buy at the grocery store are really all that green? Then check out http://www.climatecounts.org

What are Direct Carbon Offsets?
"Carbon Offsets" has been a hot phrase in the past couple of years, but what does it mean and how much of an effect does it really have? If you scour the internet, you will find scores of websites that will offer to balance the Co2 emissions produced by airplane flights, driving to the local supermarket, and even industrial production. Some of these programs invest in renewable energy production or mass tree planting, but it is oftentimes difficult to trace where exactly your money is going. That is why I like to refer to them as indirect carbon offsets.
Direct Carbon Offsets takes place on a smaller scale, and must include concrete evidence of carbon dioxide sequestration. Climate Swag has chosen to take this route and invest a portion of our profits in tree planting & bike advocacy efforts. Pictures of the trees and bikes will be posted on our Facebook Page so that there is direct, tangible evidence of our efforts to balance energy consumed in producing our amazing eco-gifts.

Climate Swag Eco Shop Opens!
Hi friends and climate enthusiasts!
Climate Swag: http://www.cafepress.com/climateswag
I am happy to announce the opening of a new online shop that aspires to be net carbon neutral through direct carbon offsets, called Climate Swag. I am a graphic designer and bike trek organizer and have put together cool environmental tshirts, bumperstickers, buttons, iPad covers, sweaters, and other types of fun green gifts.
Direct Carbon Offsets? What does that mean? Well, to offset the greenhouse gas emissions generated by the production process, we will be planting trees and promoting bicycle and bike access advocacy efforts. You will be able to see pictures of the trees and bike funding posted on our Facebook Fan Page Starting this spring.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Reed Aronow
